Obtaining a Weapons Carry License
If you are a resident of Fayette County or a member of the United States armed forces who resides in Fayette County and have reached the age of twenty-one (21) you may apply for a Weapons Carry License. Licensing exceptions can be found in O.C.G.A. 16-11-129.
In order to apply you must first report to the Probate Court which is located in the Fayette County Justice Center at 1 Center Drive, Fayetteville, Georgia. Applications for licenses are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Residency and age must be proven either by a drivers license or identification issued by the State of Georgia.
If you were not born in the United States, you must bring proof that you are a U.S. citizen, or proof of legal entry into the United States, i.e. resident alien card.
When submitting your application you must pay a fee of ($79.25) cash or money order to the Probate Court.
After you have completed this process your Weapons Carry License will be sent to you via U.S. Mail normally within two to ten days. If you do not receive your permit please contact the Probate Court at 770-716-4220.
